View of Mayfield from the garden

Welcome to Mayfield

Mayfield can be found halfway down Rice Lane in Gorran Haven, around 500 metres from the beautiful sandy beach and harbour. The property is detached with off-street parking for three cars, with its own private garden including decking, patio and barbeque area. The house was extensively updated and enlarged in 2007.

You approach the property from the gravelled parking area and ascend four steps to the front door. In the hallway are the stairs to first floor and doors to the two ground floor bedrooms and the new open plan living/dining and kitchen area. Off the living area are the utility (washing machine, tumble dryer, boiler), bathroom (fully tiled with shower) and conservatory overlooking the garden. The bedrooms are - downstairs, twin room and double bedroom with en-suite - upstairs twin room and an additional fully tiled shower room.

No smoking at this property. Sorry, but pets are not welcome.

About the area

The main attraction to Gorran Haven is its large sandy beach, small harhour and clean waters. People fish from the quay and nearby cliffs. Seasonal boat trips operate from the harbour or from nearby Mevagissy. Boat moorings can be rented from the local Fishermen’s Society who own the harbour.

There is a convenience store with post office, newsagent and bakery. Fresh bread, pasties and pastries are still baked on the premises. The local pub The Llawnroc, serves real ales, bar and restaurant food. There are also a number of seasonal cafes, gift shops, a hairdressing salon and a fish and chip shop.

The South West Coastal Path passes through the village and hugs the spectacular cliffs that surround Gorran Haven. Walk north to Mevagissy with its picturesque harbour and streets and south to the Dodman Point; owned by the National Trust; and on to the beautiful sandy beach at Caerhays. There is a community bus running a regular service and special trips. A scheduled service runs to St. Austell via Mevagissy and to the Lost Gardens of Heligan.
